Industries of Nepal

 Economic activity concerned with the processing of raw materials and manufacture of goods in factories is called industry. We use skills, tools and machines for efficient production. No country has made progress without development of the industry. It makes the country self reliant. Development of the industry creates employment opportunities. An industry helps with the proper use of natural resource and increases export.
Types of industry  in Nepal
There are mainly three types of of industries in Nepal as follows:

1. Cottage and small-scale industry
2. Medium and large scale industry
3. Tourism industry

1. Cottage and small-scale industry
       The industries established in local level using the local resources investing less amount of money is known as the cottage industry. Generally, family members are engaged in this type of industry. clothe waving, oil processing , etc.



2. Medium and large scale industry.
        Medium and large scale industries which require large amount of money, plenty of raw materials, large size of equipment, adequate infrastructure and skilled human resource. sugar industry, jute, paper, etc. On the basic of capital investment, those industries which are established with the fix capital from Rs.30 million to Rs.100 million are grouped under medium scale industries.




3. Tourism Industry
        Providing services and supply to the tourist is called tourism industry. It is the fastest growing industry. Hotel, restaurant, trekking, rafting and mountaineering, etc come under this industry. The pace of industrial development is very slow in present context of Nepal.
