Drinking water in Nepal

Living being cannot live without water. So it is essential for all living beings. Nepal is rich in water resources. But, still there exists the problem of scarcity of water both in the rural and urban areas. Still 70% people of Nepal are not having pure drinking water. some of the regions for the scarcity of drinking water are as follows:

1. In most of the rural areas there is no modern system of water supply.

2. people have to depend on the water of river, ponds and streams. such water is polluted and is not suitable for drinking purpose.

3. The water from the hand pomp mostly contains arsenic which is poisonous to health.

4. In hilly region the tap is in high altitude so it takes hours to fetch water.

problems in urban areas:

1. Water taps have been installed in most of the house of urban areas but there is no regular supply of water.

2.People have to pay money weather water is available or not.

3. scarcity of drinking water is increasing day by day.

4. pipelines are old and is leakage due to rust.

Solutions:

1. Rain water in Nepal is suitable to drink so we can collect them by some means and utilise it later for drinking purpose.

2. Melamchi Drinking Water project should be completed as soon as possible.

3. Water resources should be preserved.

4. old pipe should be replaced in order to decrease the wastage of the drinking water through leakage.

Nepal government has adopted several measures to solve the problems. They should implement stick plan to eradicate the acute problem of drinking water in Nepal.
